History
This pest is best known for spreading the Bubonic Plague. They also transmit the bacterial disease murine typhus to humans through infected rats. Their saliva is an allergen that can cause allergic reactions in pets and humans. They can also transfer tapeworms and cause anemia in pets. Flea bites cause painful, itchy red bumps.
Flea Myths
People have been led to believe that fleas die in the winter this is not true in outdoor areas. fleas do however go into a dormant state. Our homes provide the perfect habitat to not allow this.
Our basement and controlled heating areas allow fleas to continue to jump, bite, and be a pest in winter. You can still have fleas in your home and not have any pets.
Pet Safety
Rats and mice are also known transmitters of fleas. Also, feral cats can cross your location leaving behind these unwanted guests. Preventative measures can be taken to eliminate flea interaction with your pets. Although there are several over the counter products. We strongly recommend contacting a veterinary professional. Your Vet. Can prescribe specific medication to eliminate or limit allergic reaction
Treatment.
When fleas enter our home the most common location is a sub-area or basement. Moving to other areas if not initially transported in by a pet. We recommend and suggest that your pets receive a professional flea treatment prior to our service. We will electronically send you a detailed safety and to-do list. Treatment for a flea infestation can be hazardous to adults, children and pets alike so please follow all instructions given. Be prepared to make arrangements for pets and children away from the home for several hours.
Depending on the type of treatment needed, gas supplied appliances may have to have the pilot turned off and gas temporarily turned off by our service licensed/insured service tech’s.
Electronics and other kitchen appliances need special detail in regards to treatments. keep in mind that the chemicals are hazardous. The improper placement is one thing but as a safer company, we all go above and beyond to ensure no accidental interactions.
