American Cockroach
Roaches
A big cockroach.
These critters are often met in large commercial buildings such as Restaurants, Bakeries, Grocery stores, food processing plants, Hospitals, Sewers, etc. These Roaches like many other roach species will eat almost anything including each other. Sewers and darker damp warmer places are ideal for these roaches. Philadelphia is one of the older cities in America, we also have one of the older sewer systems with water main breaks and leaks constantly. American cockroaches have wings and can fly, although not well, moderately at best.
American cockroaches are larger if not the largest cockroach in the United States. Cockroach species are found all over the world except in the arctic. Roaches breathe throughout their body segments, this allows roaches to live for long periods without its head. American Roaches can hold their breath for about a half-hour. Most roaches can also go without a meal for a month but only live about 10 days without water.
