“Water bugs”, “sewer roaches” Crawl out from under the kitchen cabinets or from under the dishwasher or washer machine. The worst is when it appears to be dead. then up and gone seconds later.
Are what these pests are commonly referred to in the inner-city areas. So common they can be found almost anywhere, especially in places that are damp and dark. Early evenings and throughout summer nights you can find this roach scampering across the pavements and hiding stairs and lawns alike. We encounter these roaches in child care facilities, hospitals, restaurants, coffee shops, etc.

Description
The Mature female oriental cockroach/ water bugs produce about 4-8 egg capsules during her lifetime, each of which will hold around 16 individual eggs.
leaving the egg capsules near food sources and they hatch in 80-90 days.
They reach sexual maturity after molting between 7-10 times over the course of 5-9 months.
This species of roaches cannot fly instead, they use their six legs to scuttle about.
Unlike German cockroaches, oriental cockroaches cannot climb up most vertical surfaces.
Generally, when an Oriental cockroach attempts to climb, it is very slow and could take several minutes. Both have long thread-like antennae that they use to sense food.
Habits
The oriental cockroach/ water bugs will live in basements, drains, sewers and outside rubbish sources. In the homes, they can be found under sinks in kitchens and bathrooms as well as places near a water heater, leaking pipes, and damp crawl spaces. In developed areas Oriental cockroaches can be Found under outdoor stairs, grass lines around trees and landscaping where grass/soil meets concrete, mulch, etc.
Disease
Roaming in drains and sewers these roaches are host and carriers of several diseases and parasites.
Worm eggs are also spread by cockroaches, such as hookworms, tapeworms, and pinworm to name a few. Your veterinarian will warn you about the significance of this pest and the health of your pet. mice are also vectors of sickness to humans and pets as well. Some of the other diseases that roaches spread include salmonella, E. Coli, Streptococcus, and poliomyelitis.
The Oriental cockroach is commonly found in commercial locations restaurants, hospitals, daycares, etc. The amount of food and available water in these locations provide the perfect habitat for oriental cockroaches/ water bugs.
Note seeing roaches during the day is a sure sign of infestation. Roaches are nocturnal creatures, ventures in the day could mean the nesting areas are full.
